History and of Architecture VI: Antiquity & Medieval
Dr. Cara Rachele, Thursdays 9:45 - 11:30, HIL E6
Many of our modern frameworks of architectural design date back to the Renaissance. Then, quality was evaluated in comparison to "good" ancient and "bad" medieval models, an idea we (perhaps) no longer hold. This course investigates Antiquity and the Middle Ages as variously fashioned in the mind of the architect and the architectural historian, from 1400 to today. How does our understanding of these perids inform our thinking about the use of history for the architect today?
