Veranstalter: Professur Delbeke
Dozierende: Prof. Dr. Maarten Delbeke, Prof. Dr. Ludger Hovestadt

Xenotheka is a new large digital library containing collections of books and images covering the history and theory of architecture from 1450 to 1850 that students explore by means of coding. Xenotheka allows first-year students to draw historical knowledge from large quantities of freely available historical sources, while improving their digital literacy and research methods.

Xenotheka is a personalised library offering full access to original texts. The tool of coding learnt in the first year of mathematics will lead to new forms and methods for dealing with architecture theory and history, coupled with the traditional format of lecture courses, archive visits, seminars and added YouTube tutorials.

Xenotheka will be taught collaboratively by the chairs of Prof. Dr. Maarten Delbeke (Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture) and Prof. Dr. Ludger Hovestadt (Chair of Computer-Aided Architectural Design) and tutored by Anneke Abhelakh and Miro Roman. It will be part of the first-year courses “Fundamentals of the History and Theory of Architecture I” and “Mathematics and Programming”.
